Inline with the Presidential Fast Track Initiative on Ending HIV/AIDS in Uganda by 2030, the Judiciary on Wednesday September 31, 2018 sensitized its staff in the Wakiso and Mpigi Magisterial Areas.

The one-day sensitization workshop that was held at Maya Nature Resort was intended to raise awareness on the scourge of HIV/AIDS as well as give support to some of its staff members who are already affected.

About 60 staff from Wakiso, Mpigi, Nsangi, Maddu, Kibibi, and Buwama attended theworkshop.

The workshop was opened by H/W Tadeo Muinda (Magistrates GI, Mpigi) who thanked the Judiciary management for bringing this wonderful Initiative to the staff.

The group heard from different facilitators, such as Dr. Watiti Stephen and Dr.Carol Namazzi (Uganda Aids Commission), and Moses Super Charger with PINA Uganda entertained the staff.

Anchored  in "A Presidential  Handbook", the Initiative spells out plans to tackle HIV/ AIDS in Uganda through a five point plan to; Engage men in HIV prevention and close the tap on new infections particularly among adolescent girls and young women; Accelerate implementation of 90-90-90 targets particularly among men and young people; Consolidate progress on eliminating mother-to-child transmission of HIV; Ensure financial sustainability for the HIV response; and Ensuring institutional effectiveness for a well-coordinated multi-sectoral response.

While closing the activity, H/W Kasakya Muhamadi (CM Mpigi) thanked the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Kagole E. Kivumbi, for the timely release of resources for "this important activity".

The Judiciary has so far reached over 900 staff members with the HIV awareness and the staff that have declared their HIV status are being supported to live positively.
